well the reason why i ask this is because i would like to work and stay in Egypt for at least a year to study arabic ,and my question is it possible for a foreigner to work and study in Egypt,and if so where would a foreigner most-likely work thanks for all the help:)

well i recommend that at first u stay with someone untill u get used 2 it there then u can live independantly...unless ur willing 2 take on the hardships...this doesnt only apply 2 going 2 egypt though its 4 going anywhere independantly...egypt is a great country and ull love it there...its just that like any other country ull def. have a hard time at first.

yes their is alot of foreigners in egypt from everywhere work and study in egypt u can find this people most in sharm elsheik and hurgada its egyptian cities if u dont know and in cairo their is adistrict called maadi their is american school and alot of american people live and work in egypt ireally dont know about is it easy to find ajob but u can find ajob as animation in hotel or english teacher in private schools or american school good luck and c u next time speak arabic welcome to egypt

yes it is possible. Foreigners usually stick either to their field , or teach in foreign schools. altho i dont recommend you to live and stay alone in Egypt , it is possible . It is quite safe , but not 100% safe . and better be safe than sorry. try to have someone (talking male) living with you here in Egypt. Good luck. John

The best thing you can do is to contact the American embassy in Cairo. A large number of Americans including marines work and live in Egypt.

Yes it is absolutely possible for an American woman to live and work in Egypt. You should do a lot of research on the school you'll be attending, learn about their customs and traditions. Don't go to places you are not familiar with. As with any foreign country, there is always danger. Egypt is a Muslim country. Be prepared to dress like the women there out of respect for them. If you are going to be with other American women then things should be okay. Just remember, when you dress do not dress like college girls in the US. They are very strict when it comes to a woman "showing" her body. Contact the American Embassy for more information. Good luck, have fun and above all see the sites! Egypt is a country full of history. Also, it gets quite hot and humid there. It can be 115 degrees F in the shade during the summer months (remember about how you dress with regards to the temperature). As far as employment, it depends what you are studying. it is possible for you to live in Egypt independently . Egypt is perfectly safe for you . try to find good accommodation close to the school you would study . this would save time and money . Heliopolis or Maadi where many foreigners live . try to mix , go out to famous places , see and enjoy the sites .
