It will take some time, so relax. The employer has to file a petition with US immigration, but the available numbers for H1b petitions has already been used up for this year. There won't be any new numbers available until next April. Not to mention there are more petitions filed each year than there are visas available, so even if you wait until next year, if you're not lucky, you still may not get a visa.

Would knowing SMA let me live in Egypt when learning that dialect

Would knowing SMA let me live in Egypt when learning that dialect?
I am moving to Egypt soon and I was wondering if I could function in Egypt just knowing Standard modern Arabic untill I learn their dialect

The Egyptian dialect is probably the closest to SMA! So you should be fine... you'll just have to learn Slang...
2 :
No, you wouldn't want people to think you sound weird. Better learn the dialect.
3 :
Egyptians are in generaly very helpful and you will soon pick up the dialect
4 :
The only thing that knowing MSA will come in handy for in Egypt is reading the newspaper or watching news on TV. You will find for general conversation it won't get you very far. Here is an article from USA today that talks about this: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2009-03-16-learning-arabic-egypt_N.htm
5 :
Man you will need to learn the dialect as soon as you go there because it is different than the standard in pronunciation and in a lot of vocabulary too. Usually the SMA is written in books and newspapers, but not spoken unless in formal speech or cartoons. I can imagine that it would be funny for Egyptians to hear someone talking in SMA (because as i told you it is like in cartoons) so don't get offended if they laugh!

4 :

5 :
Hey man, don't you listen to these a...s!!! But do me a favor. Come here legally. Get a work-visa. It's possible..
6 :
The Xtians may crucify you here if you Muslim.Even if you are a Xtian Palestinian. Many Jews here, and most pro Israel, and you know why you have to be with no country and Out of (it). Your country or your nationality have no granted Human Rights. You,illegal alien even there?no much better would be here, where everyone came in illegally, even with violence. The local aboriginals are still in Concentration-reserved space. Call this your "Promised Land",and others may get an idea.
7 :
Stay where you are believe me, this is the most racist country in the world. You'll probably end in jail chaged with terrorism. Just listen on Web the radio station from here in L.A. www.kfi640.com and find out for yourself.
8 :
This should help you: http://www.us-immigration.com/ http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis... Welcome to you but ....(no terrorist allowed though)
9 :
Hmm, it is a well known fact that unlike us Brits, the Yanks do have a tendency to wonky teeth and may need your service. The only thing is that thinking isn't something they are famed for either and may think you'll file them into the shape of pyramids. You may have a tough time, but good luck! Oh yeah, no need to abduct me. I can make it there all on my own. She's quite frisky tonight, so I'll be leaving shortly for the airport! lol

why youth seek to leave Egypt and live abroad

why youth seek to leave Egypt and live abroad ?
HI Many of us were able to adapt with Egypt severe problems like poor ( infrastructure , health care , education and living standards ) but many cannot adapt with the changing people attitude No one can deny that: (Fahlawa- Gasha3 - Estee3`lal - Nasb -Elet Adab - Fodol -7asad -3ashwa2ya-Fasad - Wasta ) are all problems expanding in our society who can feel that strongly is the any one who lived some while abroad Are those enough reasons for someone to immigrate from Egypt if he have stable job and family here in Egypt ?

Because Egypt is overpopulated so there are no jobs.
2 :
they are leaving their country their families and their home and even their stable jobs in egypt looking for a better financial life abroad , working in egypt isn't profitable at all...so the only way out is looking for a better career outta egypt , but not only they leave everything prescious behind w enne el3'orba sa3ba but also some of them faces bad treatment of the home residents and the owners of the country they usually treat them bad and with arrogance and look down to them , yet they have to face that and be patient for the sake of their families in order not to be forced to leave the job that support them. really i have pity on egyptians and the egypt from the tyrant government that we are forced to bear!! mennohom l Allah 3'arabbona w sha7tatona w masa7 be karamet keteer el2rd.

i will write' khawater' and we try to reach an answer 2gether 1. people differ. some believe home is where family is. some wud say as long as my wife and kids are with me ,i'd go anywhere to others family is more extended and he prefers to stay cuz of grandparents cousins aunts uncles even friends are neighbours. but this type is dwindling coz life in egypt is suffocating all these ties. 2. as u said some people can NOT cope with all u said. so they leave . 3.some people are like me ..STUCK... i have obligations here that i just cant walk out of... 4. some get home sick and cant live anywhere except in their homeland. 5.some wud love to leave but have no opportunity. so they r also stuck.(with me hahahah) 6.some want ta3leem mo7taram for their kids at last ....7.some people NEED money so have to try to find work somewhere else فقر الانسان فى الوطن غربة و غناه فى الغربة وطن how sad!!!! edit 8. yes zoser some seek democracy and freedom forgot that one ma3 enha aham wa7da @zoser u know u shud be a kateb seyasi, mo7amy or even a politician. aw mo2are7'. what r u doing in netherlands come to cairo and we will elect u as our spokesman or president ...!!!! wallahi leek sha3beya hena.... @ZOSER this reminds me of the mathal elli ekhtashu matu, u know it is a mathal about ladies in a turkish bath ,i think, and there was a fire, they ran around looking for towels and so died. the ones that ran out ,were the ones that lived. i have the same ideas like u but i just cant express my self like u do, the funny thing is when u say this truth about egypt elnas betez3al . i cant understand why people are not objective? read this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnFa3hgnUSYKJ2b.3e22__3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100402082853AAHoohQ&show=7#profile-info-B6ZCtwA3aa

Come on all, there is a severer problem than poverty and the things mentioned above,,, The main problem that the educated middle class in Egypt (and that is very small) is treated like Cattle, from the rest of the society , caught between the ignorance and stupidity of the major poor ignorant class, and the ignorance and manipulation of the rich class, the problem is not the economy / not the government (which is also people) but very little (normal good)Egyptians can survive the domination and (tas'alot ) Not a small number of the Egyptians ( are in general stupid and ignorant, regardless of their economic status) and the big disaster (motasalateen ) and adore to dominate the (normal ones) obliging their retard way of life(I am talking here about the cultural. social , taste, ,,, etc )..... what is funny that they deny that, not only because they can not see themselves but because they like also to live in denial....that I do not see anyone cares anymore about the Egyptians (they became negligible) and who cares!!! do not like them...................... In general I do not mind to be poor, but I mind to be one of the cattle herd , that I see very normal (even rich) Egyptians , are trying hard to escape the cattle's stable.(zeribah).. @1967 Democracy does not work with ignorance and el ghabaa,,,or the stupids will dominate more, the few remaining (normal) ,,, Democracy does not address Quality but Quantity,,, and the big Quantity is retards, we do not need Democracy that much it would come by its own if we get rid of el takhlof.... and it is not only schools but the society,,,look at Samia Gamal who was a maid before being a dancer... she was way better than 99% of the recent artist,,, and surprising better than 80% of the recent Egyptian females,(i hv watched some new Egyptian movies,,,was shocked..lol),, the difference is the era,,, we are now in el zeriba era.. .without having the government as an excuse,,,, it is the major people responsibility not the few people who are called government.. I almost throw up when I see how much dirty the people are ,it is not due to poverty, nor lack of democracy,I found they do not know how to be clean,,or they do not Know what is clean!!! It is ignorance not money or democracy....THEY JUST DO NOT KNOW,,, !!!!! ------------------ Now , to know what has happened to the Egyptians and what has come and is still coming read the following,,and you will find that we are in the way to be equal(if not we are already) to Somalia,,,,and you ask why we do escape our lives from here? http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2010/04/04/104918.html (use google translate into E,if needed) @G2 well, we are infected already , will happen in Egypt sooner than you expect,,there is no significant differences anymore...funny ha? look at Nour answer here and you will get my point http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj3VsF4U6HJ6qIqBvzTYTJ8yDX1G;_ylv=3?qid=20100404131115AAXtWHU
5 :
@ Zoser: But your news link happened in Saudi Arabia, not in Egypt!
6 :
just like those who immigrate from Mexico, china and India for hoping for promises.
7 :
Well...i have so many friends who graduated from med. school & the first thing they thought about was how to get out of the country because of #1) we have the worst salaries as doctors (as a house officer you only get 280 LE if not less & you're like 24 yrs old or something) #2) ELKOOSA we ma adrak bel koosa, when you are like one of the top 100 of your class & you don't get the residency of your choice coz certain number of students are just favored to chose first. #3)to start you life (like get married...) & your salary won't exceed 1000/month. i guess you'll just spend the 1000 on transportation. #4)when you try to get your Masters or PhD & the professors just keep failing you for no reason, so you start to seek BETTER degrees elsewhere. It's a very long list actually but that doesn't mean I'm with the idea of immigration & I'm not strictly against it coz I think it' sometimes justifiable. But then again I'm girl & I don't have all these kind of responsibilities to worry about (as many would say)
8 :
because they are stupid..... i am moving back to EGypt ISA very soon I am currently living in the USA with a great job and everything but i can not stand to be out of Egypt any longer. out of all the countries in the world i love none like i do egypt
9 :
Yes I agree with "Zoser" the problems mentioned all aren't the main problems but, stupidity of the major ppl in Egypt "no offend" and ask me about it; I live in 7ay sah3bi and I'm in a public Secondary school, and hate going outta my home and getting down to the street cuz when i do so i see stupidity and illiteracy almost have a physical entity, Students in my school know nothing about what is in their school books "besides the retard content " Most Egyptian ppl can't write Arabic right . Ppl in Egypt does not have any desire to develop themselves or to have a better life, they think that a civilized man is necessarily a rich one and that's one of the toxic beliefs they have in their minds. and Egypt won't be better till the Egyptians themselves are better " إن الله لا يغير ما بقوم حتى يغيروا ما بأنفسهم " and unfortunately we don't wonna to change what is in ourselves, You all see the nothingness which Egyptian youth have and refusal to get a job " plz, don't talk to me about the Unemployment problem. Everybody can have a job if he truly wanted to" I know someone all his culture is porn movies and he don't know any thing about English but porn Idioms, and another all he knows is this girl is a hotty and this has hot options, and most Egyptian youth are like those two examples. that is not a pessimistic view but the reality. We see water although The cup is fully empty and this not right but stupidity and misleading optimism. We got to see the cup empty so that we can fill it and make sure no to let it get empty again I don't say the we don't have good ppl in Egypt, they are exist but drowned down by the government and the rest of ppl. Those when going abroad, they prove themselves, live like humans, never come back I wish i can go abroad so I can Live Like a human or at least treated like one
10 :
Simple answer because they are treated like crap in their own country, so they leave. After a long years of study in college he wont find a job and if he does he gets paid a little.
11 :
any one who has a good home in Egypt doesnt think of living abroad it's only young men who come from the lowest levels of our society who feel that nothing ties them here . others have hopes to have a stable job and family here the situation is getting worse every day i hope we can put an end to this hopelessness in the hearts of the young ones this can only happen when there are better chances for education , jobs , living conditions , etc
