Probably on both sides of the Nile river, as they did long ago. Not many people live too far from the river, due to Egypt's notoriously poor irrigation system.

Since the time of settlement the majority of Egypt's population has lived and worked on the fertile flat lands that make up the banks of the Nile river for most of its traverse thorough Egypt to the Mediterranean sea. The Delta region were the Nile breaks in to riverlets and then smaller marshy wetlands has always been the food bowl of Egypt and during dynastic Egypt supplied almost all the agricultural needs of the people often with enough left over for storage or to be used for trade or assistance to drought ridden areas in neighbouring countries during times of famine. This was the case with the Israelites a few years after the Biblical exodus. Moses sent some of his people back into Egypt to ask assistance of the Pharaoh as his people were staving. The assistance was given and there is evidence that this actually did occur as a stele was erected recording that "Israel's seed is lain to waste....." this is actually the earliest record of the actual existence of the Israelites that we know of.
